Work with me
Essentials of our working relationship
How it works, fees, guiding principles and where to start
How it works
A 30-minute conversation — no pitch, no script. We talk about where you are, what you're hoping for, and whether working together feels right. Free, no obligation.
Laying the groundwork — understanding your situation more fully, what you've already tried, and beginning to shape what we're working toward.
Weekly or fortnightly sessions, online or in person. The approach — coaching, therapy or both — moves with what you need as things develop.

01
Everything is co-created
As a Gestalt Therapist, I mindfully bring my whole self to our engagement. What you experience with me will be a unique meeting point of our respective histories and personalities. What happens between us is often a microcosm of what happens outside, making it one of our most powerful resources.

Lasting change takes practice
Lasting change means building new neural pathways. Imagine a field of tall grass with a well-worn path through it. Change means flattening a new route through the grass, walking it again and again until it's clear and the old path grows over. Actions that build new pathways are part of the process.

Your nervous system needs some love
If you're in a state of threat, overwhelm or crisis, deeper work simply isn't accessible. Before we can explore, understand or change anything, we need to create enough safety and stability to do so. This isn't a detour — it's the foundation.

You're not broken, you're adapted
Anxiety, depression, OCD and other diagnoses aren't signs something is wrong with you. They're your best attempts to adapt to what was or still is overwhelming. Our work is figuring out what you actually need and finding better ways to meet it.

Past, present and future all matter
Sometimes we just need to be with what is. Paradoxically, the more we can truly accept this, the more freedom there is to be different. Sometimes we need to go into the past to find peace with it. Sometimes we need a vision of the future to inspire us into action.

06
Every behaviour has a purpose
At the bottom of most of what we do — even the things we wish we wouldn't — is an attempt to meet a genuine need. Awareness is the key: recognising what the need is, how we habitually try to satisfy it, and whether it's working. From there we develop more fluid, responsive ways of getting needs met.

The relationship does the heavy lifting
Therapy works by having the hurt, exiled or overwhelming parts of ourselves witnessed by a grounded, available and compassionate practitioner. The relationship we build together provides the safety to do this. As a Gestalt Therapist, I bring my whole self to our work.

We're both experts — but in different ways
I'm an expert in the process. You are the expert in your own experience. I'm not going to diagnose you from a distance. Any formulations I have are a rough map to guide us — not a box to put you in. Your experience is always the most important thing.

09
Context shapes your experience
Whatever we are experiencing is the sum total of all contextual factors surrounding us — biology, personal history, family, gender, culture, race, spiritual beliefs, and even global events. This lends a truly holistic appreciation to the supports and constraints of your life.

WHERE WE MEET
East Melbourne — in-person sessions
Online — available Australia-wide. Many clients find online sessions just as effective, with the added flexibility of working from wherever you are.
FREQUENCY AND DURATION
Ideally it’s every week or fortnight for the best results. Most clients get real value from long term work, however I would suggest 6 sessions is generally the minimum to make any lasting changes.
MEDICARE & HEALTH FUND REBATES
Medicare does not currently provide rebates for psychotherapy in Australia and most private health funds don’t either. However, the out-of-pocket cost from a psychologist or psychiatrist is often similar to my total fee. Coaches typically charge $250+ per session with no rebate available. You may find working with me is better value than you’d expect.
